Biodata

Dr Ana Gimeno, born in Leicestershire (UK), has been a member of the teaching and research staff at the Language Department of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain, since 1985 and is Senior Lecturer in English. She currently holds the position of Director of the Foreign Language Development Office for the UPV.

She has published a number of research papers on language learning and teaching, more specifically in the fields of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). She has recently published CALL Software Design and Implementation: the template approach (SP-UPV, 2002), and is co-author of three books for learners of English for engineering purposes.

She has been Project Manager of several funded multimedia CALL research and development projects (http://www.upv.es/camille) which have led to the publication of various language courses on CD-ROM: Español Interactivo and Español en marcha (Difusión, 1998); Valencià Interactiu (Bromera, 2000) and ¡Bienvenido a bordo! (Unicorn, 2002).

In addition to participating in two EU funded LINGUA projects, HELLO NET and WELCOME, she is Project Manager of Proyecto INGENIO, funded by UPV, to create a dedicated CALL authoring shell and content manager to enable the publication of interactive courseware for foreign language learning delivered over the web.
