Promoting the use of lesser taught European languages: Policies and methodologies

The ‘Hellonet” project took part in the International conference ‘Promoting the use of lesser-taught European languages’ which took place in Dijon, France from 7-9 April. This very important conference gathered scholars, educators, language teachers and educational policy makers from more than twenty countries of Europe. This conference, within the framework of Lingua program, was part of another Lingua project for the promotion of lesser spoken languages in Europe. Our institution is one of the partners of this project. Some of the topics discussed in this conference were: Multiculturalism and the teaching of living European languages, Language policies in Europe, Projects of good practice, evaluation and certification, The role of TV in the building of a language environment, The European language portfolio, Bilingualism in Europe, European programs for the promotion of languages, etc. Presentation of innovative language projects like Hellonet, Vif@x, Primlang, Evlang, Galatea, Eurotyp LaLiTa, êáé Eurolanguages.net took place.
